Graduate Recruitment
Our graduate trainees tell us that Fraser Offshore is very different to other firms. From their very first interaction they see something in Fraser Offshore that convinces them they want to invest their future with us. Maybe it's the people - some of the most respected in the industry; maybe it’s training and development opportunities, the culture or even the social life; whatever it is they know that this is the right place for them.
TRAINING
We believe that well engineering is a vocation; a lifetime career in which expertise has worldwide application. Mastery does not come quickly - skills and experience must be acquired over several years and many wells in order to achieve a standalone level of competence. From the outset however, you will find yourself part of a group of engineers considered the best and brightest at what they do.
Fraser Offshore's Drilling Engineering Training Scheme (DETS) combines classroom training with a structured programme of work, including entry level drill crew experience and well-informed mentoring. The DETS is delivered over a 3-5 year period. Duration of training is dependent upon entry-level experience and individual progress. The training is flexible, tailored to meet individual requirement and the availability of real-life work assignments but one thing you can be sure of; you will be offered early responsibility, backed up by a good support network, and you’ll be trained by people who are experts in their field.
PROSPECTS
Our training is necessarily demanding but the rewards are high. Individuals completing the DETS Programme will acquire top end skills that bring with them a well paid career and worldwide opportunities. Starting salaries for trainee drilling engineers are in excess of £30,000, added to which there is a comprehensive package of benefits and an annual bonus scheme.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Demand for our training is high and we select candidates with care. You will need to have achieved or be expected to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree in an engineering discipline; preferably mechanical or mining engineering. We look for strong technical and team working skills, initiative, self-reliance and a willingness to travel and work offshore. Often we ask for more; masters level study, prior exposure to life in the oil/gas industry, evidence of personal achievement.
All applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English, with a permit to work in the UK if non EEC resident.
